Libratone’s wireless Q-Adapt headphones were a challenger to market dominators like Bose, Beats, and JBL. Libratone needed to get people’s attention with their commercial, so we created an attention grabbing video that doubled down on one value proposition: superior noise cancellation.

Rather than talk about the noise cancellation, we decided to show it in action. That’s where the creative concept for Hipster Hooligans came from, to gather up unique characters all doing their best to distract our hero and make as much intrusive office noise as humanly possible. Thankfully, our protagonist was prepared with Q-Adapt headphones. As he shows off some of the intuitive controls and features, he also enjoys noise-free calls — problem solved. 

Libratone contracted BX Films for a series of commercials for our speakers and headphones. Our headphone sales jumped 600% after running the commercial BX Films created for us. With astronomically high click-through rates and conversions, the Hipster Hooligans commercial was a fantastic success!

Our Commercial Production Process

Concept

We generate several unique high-level ideas that give you a taste of different videos we could produce.

Scriptwriting

We write the full script and go back and forth with you to get it just right.

Pre-Production

All the planning. We find locations, scout talent, design the shoot locations and sets, get permits, and much, much more.

Production

In other words, shoot day (s)! This is when you can join us (if you want) as we bring the magic to life and capture all the live-action footage we need for the video.

Post-Production

We add more magic on the back end to wrap everything up, including editing, sound design, motion graphics, and/or animations.

A creative commercial is a video advertisement that highlights a brand, product, or service by telling a story in a creative way. This type of ad shows rather than tells. It’s different from an explainer which typically uses a narrator or host to literally describe the service or product for the viewer, often with animation. It’s also distinct from a high-level brand video or corporate video that is trying to convey a particular message about what it stands for, its vision, or values. 

Creative commercials are usually a bigger production than other types of video ads. We spend more time upfront on concepts and scripting, and the concept/script you choose may require anything from multiple locations, a studio build, more talent, and more time and costs in post-production. But generally they follow the same high-level process as any commercial we produce, just at a more involved and detailed level. The payoff is worth it when done right. 

There’s a wide range of costs with commercial production. If you want to shoot a cinematic-quality video in multiple locations over multiple days, it’s going to cost you significantly more than, say, a one-day shoot in a studio with a simpler storyline. And likewise, a huge crew on a studio set for multiple days would cost more than a simple single shoot day at a rented location. So the story and video quality are two of the biggest factors when it comes to cost.

Currently, the creative commercials we produce range from $100-300K each. Of course, there are a lot of different factors that help to be flexible with the cost, depending on our clients wants and needs.
